PALOMINO

Departing from Riohacha.

We'll begin our journey in Palomino, one of La Guajira's iconic towns, a hidden gem nestled between the mountains and the Caribbean Sea. We'll hike through the jungle, encountering indigenous communities along the way, and reach a point where we'll gently float down the river to its mouth. Lunch will be waiting for us on the beach. After lunch, we'll head to our accommodation. You'll enjoy the facilities and have the opportunity to explore this bohemian Caribbean town.

DAY 2

THE FLAMINGO SANCTUARY

We’ll head toward the Camarones marsh, where a traditional cayuco—handcrafted with care by local experts—will be waiting for us. We’ll hop on and, guided by the wind, gently navigate through the lagoon until we find the Pink Flamingos. We’ll have time to admire their beauty and take incredible photos of them.

After returning to shore, we’ll explore a bit more of local life, guided by Salin, our Wayuu guide.
We’ll then continue toward Riohacha, where we’ll spend the night to rest and prepare for the next experience.

Departure from Palomino: 8:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.

THE 3RD

RIOHACHA > PUNTA GALLINAS

Let the adventure begin! We'll travel through salt lagoons and cactus forests along the road that will take us to Manaure. There, we'll stop and learn about the salt production process. Then we'll venture into the endless and magical desert, heading towards the northernmost point of South America, Punta Gallinas! We'll visit the Taroa Dunes (kilometers of sand that gently slope down to the Caribbean Sea), go to the Punta Gallinas lighthouse (the northernmost point of the continent), and spend the night in a magical spot in the middle of the desert, under millions of stars.

Departure from Riohacha: 7:00 am

THE 4TH

PUNTA GALLINAS > CABO DE LA VELA

We'll explore the desert in the morning, heading towards the majestic viewpoints overlooking the endless bays of Portete. Then we'll continue along the road to Cabo de la Vela for lunch. This will be at a traditional Wayuu ranchería, where we'll share legends and culture. After lunch, we'll enjoy a tour of the most iconic spots (Rainbow Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Ojo de Agua Beach) and watch the sunset from the legendary Cabo de la Vela Lighthouse. As night falls, dinner and a cocktail or other beverage await us, bringing an incredible day to a close.

THE 5TH

CAPE OF THE VELA > RIOHACHA

After breakfast, and after enjoying a bit more of Cabo de la Vela, with its calm and shallow waters, we continue along the Desert Route until we reach Uribía, the Indigenous capital of Colombia. There, we’ll explore part of its history and local culture in the context of the town.

We then head toward a hidden and pristine beach: Mayapo. We’ll have lunch here, enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the sea, and later continue toward our final destination: Riohacha.
